I bet 99.9 percent of the folks here could care less about this. But #4 LSU plays #3 Oregon tonight. I am an LSU guy. Heck so is my dad. I was born in Red Stick (what Baton Rouge means) and lived my first few years a couple blocks from the Stadium. The Stadium is officially Tiger Stadium. We as fans all know it as "Death Valley." We do something most colleges don't do. We like to play our home games at night. Saturday night under the lights in Death Valley. I think we are 76-7-1 in those games. We just don't lose.
Below the fold a little more fun.
Now don't get me wrong. I know each sports fan thinks their team. Their fans are the "best." I get that. But I've been to a lot of events across this nation and I've never, never seen anything like LSU on a Saturday night. Nothing even close. Try this:
When I was in school there I was confused. Huge RVs started to show up on Wednesday to tailgate for a Saturday night game. The town was in a frenzy.
A few hours before the game, our band, the Golden Band From Tiger Land plays the team in. It is almost a mob of people. I think this was changed a few years ago, the opposing team no longer has to walk this path. When you are hearing folks yell at you, well you are "tiger bait" and there is in fact a live tiger growling at you .... well I could see how that might be too much of a home field advantage.
Let goes LSU. Oh I should note, full disclosure, our starting QB won't be playing tonight. I can't seem to tell what happened. What we do know are these three facts. He broke curfew. Went to a bar at 2 AM. Kicked an Iraqi vet in the head. How all that happened isn't clear. But maybe, I don't know, you don't put yourself in that situation.
