I keep trying to think of ways to adapt the Democrats issues into something more reasonable moderates and Repub voters can relate to. To me, this means rallying around an issue that affects all of us visibly regardless of party lines.
One issue that seems to resonate and needs correcting is this "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" nonsense. I don't care who you are or how much you have or have not achieved, you didn't do it without help from family, friends, strangers, government or any combination of them. Somewhere along the line, Repubs took community and family support and turned it into an excuse to gut the big three entitlements. (Even that description is designed as an attack on them.) They feed this fantasy that everyone needs to do it by themselves and the ones that fall onto hard times are not deserving of help. (Survival of the Fittest bs.)
I keep wondering how we can change the narrative so that we are reaching beyond the base.
Any suggestions?
