One guy is a community organizer, the other is a Governor who executes innocent people. I'm not talking about Jesus and Pontius Pilate, I'm talking about Barack Obama and Rick Perry.
Rick Perry is a one man walking talking death panel, a government bureaucrat that decides whether people will live or die. It doesn't matter if you are mentally disabled or a juvenile, it doesn't even matter if you are innocent, if you end up in front of Rick Perry's one man death panel you will die. The people who love Jesus the most vocally have no problem voting for a Governor who executes people, because when it is time to execute people the question Rick Perry asks himself is "What would Pontius Pilate do?"
More rant below the fold
So here we have a Governor who has no problem with a huge military empire that is draining our treasuries dry, a Governor who will invoke the gods to bring rain and a Governor who lies about Social Security being a Ponzi scheme, even though lying is a sin.
You see, Republican voters don't give a shit about death panels unless it is a Democrat doing it, and if that Democrat has a policy of being black that just makes it worse, but if it is a Republican with a death panel that kills over 200 people then Republican voters will applaud because those people were obviously bad, that's why they were executed. Catch-22.
When Republicans use Big Government to spy on citizens Republican voters couldn't give a damn, but if a Democrat tries to regulate our out of control banks, then the Government is suddenly "out of control" in the eyes of Republican voters. Overturning the 4th Amendment? Republicans snore, but if you even mention regulating the firearms industry it is obvious to Republicans that you hate the Constitution. Violate the 8th Amendment with torture? Snore. Military spending? Subsidies for profitable oil companies? Silence, but gods forbid we spend money in a way Republicans don't like, like on health care for women or food assistance for the poor. I have seen horses in Central Park with smaller blinders than the average Republican. And the horses are usually better informed too. At least the horse knows that he is an easily replaceable beast of burden that some guy profits off of who is one broken leg away from the glue factory.
But as far as healing the sick or feeding the poor or loving thy neighbor, you know, the kind of stuff Jesus talked about all the time, well, Republicans aren't having any of that. No, the real question Republicans seem to ask themselves in their quest to find the cruelest policies and the cruelest candidate for President possible is "What would Pontius Pilate do?"
And of course, if Pontius Pilate ordered Jesus tortured and then sentenced to death, I'm sure Dick Cheney would criticize him on dithering over whether to crucify him or not.
Rant off
Thanks to everyone, I am thisclose to being able to pay my rent and get by for the rest of this month.
