Surprise, surprise.
However, Republican leaders already are dismissing the president's plan before hearing the details, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell saying Thursday it will be another attempt at failed stimulus policies.
And here we have the expert on failed successful economic policy giving us advice:
"The definition of insanity, Albert Einstein once famously put it, is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result," McConnell, R-Kentucky, said on the Senate floor. "Frankly I can't think of a better description of anyone who thinks the solution to the problem is another stimulus. The first stimulus didn't do it. Why would another?"
That's right, Senator. You and your party should be quite familiar with that definition. And I emphasize, should.
Only when referencing a Democratic attempt to fix your fucking mess, an attempt that failed fell short due to your party's unwillingness to support one that would, do you find Einstein's quote useful.
Nevermind the bold, fresh, and very "outside the box" ideas one of your party's leading presidential candidates, Mitt Romney:
Reducing taxes, curbing government regulations, creating "Reagan economic zones" to encourage free trade, cutting federal spending, more oil/gas drilling
I can't help but wonder, Senator, since Einstein's is your preferred definition of insanity, where does that leave the Republican party?
Senator?
Senator?
Are you still there?
Hello?
