After reading Eric Cantor's comment in the wake of President Obama's job speech to the Congress, I wrote two short paragraphs that I intended to leave as a voice mail for the Majority Leader (202-225-4000). Instead, a live person answered, so I told him I had a message for the Majority Leader, and shared the following...
Since President Obama in his speech to the House and Senate last night asked the American people to let Congress know what they think about creating jobs--since the so-called ‘Job Creators’, despite having their taxes reduced to the lowest rates in decades, don’t seem interested--I’m calling on Eric cantor and the Republican leadership to start representing American citizens rather than being bat boys only for corporate special interests.
I have never laughed so hard as I did this morning, when I read Eric Cantor’s post-speech comment, quote, “What we’re here to do is try to transcend differences, not let them get in the way in the areas we can make progress on.” There’s hardly a soul in North America--hell, in the English-speaking world--that does NOT know that the absolute very LAST priority of a living and breathing Republican is to “transcend differences,” and you’re not going to be able to lie yourselves out of the hole you have dug. There is no rational reason for the American people to continue putting Republicans in office when Republicans are interested in responding to the interests of only the most wealthy and powerful 2 percent. I’m delighted to see Mr. Cantor showing some real fear for his political career.
Thank you.
