They gotta be kidding me! Not inviting The First Responders
and inviting half the politicians in the country! No way!

First Responders Not Invited To 9/11 Memorial
And Other 9/11 Related News by the Seattle Times

The First Responders Should Have Been Invited To This 10th
Memorial Ceremony!

The 10th Anniversary is a big deal, will get world wide media coverage!
So all the politicians gotta have their picture taken. Like they care!

Mankind hasn't changed in thousands of years. Still No Room At The Inn!

I Suggest All Our First Responders Be Invited Immediately!

I've always heard it's bad manners to invite someone somewhere at the last minute.
Although; I Think Our Heroes, The First Responders Wouldn't Refuse. Even At This Late Date.

If there's supposedly, not enough room; Stagger the politicians, in one hour intervals. Some leave,
others come in. I think it would be a good lesson for the rich to see how it is to wait!

Or Let the politicians sit a little further away. Give them those big screen monitors to watch and
hear the Ceremony on. Cordon off a large part of the area. Since it's a Sunday there's no reason
that surrounding streets can't be closed and seating for the politicians provided close by.

Imagine how all those pictures these politicians can't wait to be in; will look to the world without
Our First Responders being in them too! And you'll get the blame mayor bloomberg. Because you're
the guy in charge.

This is so true and what should be done.  You're gonna need more big screens, mayor bloomberg.

New York City Firemen saved my live twice when I lived in NYC. Way back in the 1970's, when
I was young and not dumb, just stupid.

In a tenement slum. The fire was on the third floor, we were on the fifth. The Firemen ran up, past us
coming down at the third floor. they said "Hurry Up, Hurry Up; Get Out, Get Out, The Whole Thing Could Go"! And that tinder box, a 125 yr old building sure could have!

No wonder the world perceives us as weak. The world will say to themselves; oh boy have we got
a bunch of suckers here (those American politicians)!

This is what the world will see! Because every culture Honors its Heroes! Duh!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Yes it is true sorry to say. Bloomberg is making a big mistake.

  •  WTC is now a huge construction site. (0+ / 0-)

I was down there last month. The big pit with the ramp leading down to it is now gone.

I remember the uproar when this first hit the news in NYC. The city was faced with a choice. And they went with inviting those that lost family on 9-11. I would imagine this includes the families of first responders who died that day

The NYPD and NYFD have had ceremonies honoring those who died.

is needed for the First Responders, then have the politicians go sit in Central Park. Politicians ignored the warnings and did nothing. George W. Bush sat for very long minutes like he was taking a dump and went to war with everybody but the damn enemy. These bozos need to be ignored and the First Responders brought to the 10th Anniversary to stand beside the Families!

      Anything less, is totally unAmerican.

the right thing to do after inviting the families of those who died (whether they were in the towers or responding), would have been to invite a representative from each fire company and each police house prior to any politicians.

Or perhaps the space problem should have been considered far enough in advance to provide a temporary venue that would have allowed a greater number of attendees.

It seems most of the politicians we have these days are nothing more than a bunch of celebrity-seeking power mongers, who think that somehow they are more important than its citizenry.

I think an impromtu/spontaneous gathering of all NYFD and NYPD along with any one else wanting to gather would be marvelous.  It's the people who are important, more so than the location.

  •  It is shameful but I'm equally ticked (8+ / 0-)

at all many of the people who are outraged about their "heroes" being treated badly.

I spent some days this spring and summer in WI doing the recall and making calls. Many people -- including some of my facebook friends from WI -- had no problem cheering Walker on, calling public employees leeches, and complaining about giving public employees health care and retirement packages. Now they have facebook posts shaming the politicians for the lack of invitation to the 9/11 ceremony.

    Really?

I pointed out to these people that these "heroes" are the same public employees that they were complaining about and just revoted to screw. These people they love today are the same people -- police, fire, nurses, etc. -- that they don't want to give rights and benefits to. A ceremony is only few hours, health care and retirement is a lifetime. I called out their hypocrisy. I'm sure defriend buttons are clicking everywhere.

Last I heard the transit workers had not been thanked for what they did that day.......taking the initiative to figure out how to get their passengers to safety.

Maybe by now they've received some official recognition.

Meanwhile, I can suggest one small action for supporting First Responders and all working people--donate money and get out the vote for NYC's election on Tuesday.
For example, I donated money in this close race and hope to devote some GOTV time:

that I can't see straight. We are having 24/7 coverage of 9/11 and have been since Hurricane Irene went. My position is that the MOST important story is that the first responders have been dissed in this way. The fact that many of them are ill exacerbates the harm.

I loathe Mayor Bloomberg, who would NEVER have been elected had there been no planes hitting buildings. He has done some lousy things but this one tops it.

    Thanks for writing this diary.
