Here's another guest post from "Annie West," my daughter who just turned 11.
Books I've read:
The Harry Potter Series (Rowling): I finished them for the tenth time this summer, and I’m still finding out new things! The last movie (seven part two) was awesome, but still nothing compared to the books.
Ender’s Shadow (Card): Yet another sequel to Ender’s Game. It’s more of a sequel than the others. It takes place a couple of years later with a different main character named Bean.
Childtimes (Greenfield and Little): I had to read this for school. It’s a three generation story about African Americans living in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds. It’s a really good book.
Sold (McCormick): A girl named Lakshmi has to leave her home in Nepal and go to work in India. She’s forced to be a prostitute and she has to work for a rich woman until she has paid off the amount of money that she paid for Lakshmi. But the woman tricks her and makes Lakshmi work for longer than she has to. It’s based on some of the things that are happening in India right now.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Tolkien): In order to understand it better I read my favorite LOTR again and found the things I missed the other two times I read it. Like when Saruman stole Arod and Hasufel, and the number of Orcs Legolas and Gimli killed (forty two for Legolas and forty three for Gimli).
Books I’m currently reading:
The Silmarillion (Tolkien): It’s the history of Middle-earth with all this information about how Middle-earth was formed and Illuvatar (the god of Middle-earth). I like it even though it’s difficult reading.
The City of the Beasts (Allende): Although I don’t like reading two books at once I am. It’s interesting so far. Alexander Cold’s mother is deathly ill and one day when Alex gets home from school he sees his father shaving off Alex’s mother’s hair. Alex freaks out and tears up everything in his room. When Alex calms down his father tells him that he’s going to live with his grandmother while Alex’s parents to to Texas for an operation for Alex’s mother. Alex’s two younger sisters are going to live with their other grandmother.
