So says Floyd in 'Hey You'. And the time has come to quit the "kool-aid drinkers" and references to race in disparaging OUR US President Obama. Now I freely admit, I have no idea what is going on in these meta wars between the Pro-Obama supporters and the Anti-Obama retractors but it has gotten so ugly, that a good chunk of Black posters have been reprimanded for pointing out racists comments. For me, I wonder, why are there even racists comments on this site?? Who is causing these problems? Why are they causing these problems? While I do not dive into meta diaries, I see a slew of them pop up on the wreck list pitting one diary against another and realize that this Pro/Anti Obama war is going on.  Don't even need to read them as the titles usually say it all. What I have seen are comments about the man himself being less than a man. Now how those arguments mesh with not liking a policy, I don't get. It's juvenile at best and not worthy of serious policy debates that often occur here. Last I checked, this site was made up mostly of people over 40 so I can't believe that there are 40 y/os on this site playing in the sandbox. If you passionately hate President Obama, I suggest FDL would gladly welcome your comments. If you have policy disagreements with President Obama and know how to rationally debate those policies you dislike without disparaging the President or the diarist or even the commentators, then this place is for you.

Commonsense and control of thought are things we acquire the older we get. Respectfulness is something we learn at a very young age and hopefully retain throughout our lives. These three things should prevent anyone on this site from making disparaging comments to another person on the site and most certainly the President himself.

So when Robinswing post a diary about the racism she is seeing on this site. I do not doubt her word. She will see it far more often than I will as I will not engage in these meta wars that go on. When I see Brit talking about his experiences, I don't doubt them. I remember the comments I saw in BWD's diaries.

I know I'm a nobody here and I mainly lurk. Occasionally I leave comments. Most of the time I serve up mojo for people. But when I see people I like screaming to be heard, I am going to listen to them and I will help them. If this place can't take a bar of soap to it's mouth and wash out these stupid, dull, irresponsible comments, then this place is not worth being a member of.

What I would like to see on the perfect DK wreck list: Is Obama's Job Plan Workable; Unemployment and what we are going to do about it; Does the FEC have the Chops to take down the Banksters; These are the Republicans blocking the nominations of...; and so on. That would be a wreck list worthy of spending some time on. Not 'Obama Sucks' or "Obama is A-Okay". These meta diaries are not worthy of the wealth of knowledge that this site is lucky to have. Stop trying to turn it into Jersey Shore....

I'm checking out for a week in support of Sistahspeak. I hope others get the message!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
