I just got a letter from our president.
It started out with “friend” and ended with "Barack"
it asked me to contribute money to his campaign, and maybe I would get a chance to have dinner with him so we could talk things over.
I think that I have about a chance of a snowball in hell of having dinner with him, and since I am not about to contribute millions to his campaign, I probably wouldn't get listened to either.
Here's my reply to his letter.
Dear Barack--
I would love to meet with you for dinner; unfortunately, I feel that the chances of you meeting me and listening to what I have to say are somewhat slim.
So I'm answering you personally, knowing that this letter also has a very slim chance of being seen by you.
I supported you like crazy in your last campaign, and I was delighted when you got elected.
Unfortunately, you are continuing policies that have been happening for many years, and that are TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE. Plus, they're bankrupting our country.
I am referring, of course, to your continuing support for the military-industrial complex, which devours every last penny that we could be devoting to making our country great again.
Now let's get one thing straight; I'm not talking about supporting our country's military. That's a totally different thing from supporting a company like Lockheed, whose CEO makes $10,000 a day.
You see, I'm a veteran; in fact I'm a Vietnam-era veteran. I enlisted in 1963, unlike certain war profiteers that both you and I know. So I totally support our military.
What I don't support is our $1 trillion a year military habit. And I don't support vanity wars like the last 2 that we've gotten into.
If we were to have dinner together, Barack, (and I call you by your 1st name because that's how you sign your letter, and you opened that letter with the word “friend”, so I figure that if we are friends we can call each other by our 1st names.) I would urge you to do your utmost to curb our military spending, which is bankrupting the country and actually undermining our ability to defend ourselves.
You see, it's not “defense”; it's actually “profits”. And these profits don't go into the pockets of the citizens of the United States of America, but into the pockets of “defense contractors”, their lobbyists, and the politicians that they pay off.
Hopefully, if we had dinner together, somewhere between the hors d'oeuvre and the dessert I would get a chance to mention this to you. And you better believe I would know if you were in earnest about helping this country and its citizens.
Lots of people in this country go hungry every night, while “defense” contractors drive around in Rolls-Royces.
I have HOPE that you will see fit to CHANGE this, or at least that you will start.
Have a nice day.
Your friend,
Montino
