Thanks to those that dropped by last night's Gen X diary, especially to the ones who left some music of our past in the comments.
Sad to learn REM has ended it. And so ends another band synonymous with Gen X. Bah! In 20 years it's unlikely I'll remember where I was when I learned they broke up, but still, the impact they had on Gen X music is immeasurable.
As I mentioned in last night's post, I intend on writing a series of diaries documenting Gen X's contributions to the world of arts (particularly music), other random items, and people I feel made an impact. I'm growing fearful of being forgotten, so I'd like to set aside a place for people to come by and learn about our generation and maybe help us to contemplate ourselves. And let's face, assholes like Tom Brokaw, who wrote about the 'Greatest Generation' and the babyboomers, do not find us interesting enough to write about. But, oh well, many of us prefer hanging a 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign around our necks and hope the few onlookers just go away.
Okay, back to the music.
My favorite anti-Reagan song:
"To all the killers and the hundred dollar billers....."
