I know it's a long time until the NH Primary and I try to maintain my sanity by not paying attention to the local Republican anything but, I noticed something funny this morning on my way home from Concord and thought I'd share with you all.
Between Concord and the Lakes Region is the "Loudon International Speedway" which holds NASCAR races. Since I don't follow that either I had no idea that taking Rte 109 north after I dropped my daughter at the bus station was going to be a mistake. For the races, what is normally a 2 lane road is turned into a 4 lane road (use the breakdown lane) with 3 lanes headed into the speedway in the AM and 3 lanes headed out in the PM.
Along the way I noticed my first Mitt Romney signs. Traditional hard plastic or cardboard blue signs which will be useful by showing up in the snow (so many southern candidates use white) very simple set on both sides of the road in sets of three at reasonable intervals. Very professional. And the stylized R in Romney is very reminiscent of the Obama O. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery right? After several miles, at the first intersection and then randomly thereafter there was one more candidates signs. These signs were flimsy plastic and very long needing to be anchored on each end. We're called the granite state for a reason and finding one good place to plant a sign is often difficult but two...anyway the O in Santorum has a red bird flying through the middle and when driving at speed it looks like the circle with a cross used for NOT.
It's a long time until the primary even by NH standards but 2 candidates at least are working hard.
