Rhode Island's Mount Hope Bridge
Starr Opinion Research for GoLocalProv. 9/8-13. Registered voters. MoE ±4.9% (No trendlines):
Sheldon Whitehouse (D-inc): 52
Barry Hinckley (R): 21
Undecided: 28
There's not a whole lot to say about this poll. Businessman Barry Hinckley's very low score is obviously a result of his very low name recognition—he's known to less than a quarter of the state. What matters here is that Whitehouse is above 50 percent, a nice place to be for a freshman incumbent in an ugly political environment. I'm not saying this race couldn't get more interesting, but if it does, that means we are so screwed all up and down the line that not much is gonna matter.
P.S. The same poll shows Obama with a 55-41 favorability rating.
