Marketwatch.com is owned by the Wall Street Journal. This is strange, because I've just seen one of the most strident and direct expressions of support in the American media, for Occupy Wall Street, from one of the main columnists on Marketwatch. Dig this, from Brutal Bank Crackdown But Crooks Go Free:
If you want to know how a nation supposedly by and for the people has become uprooted, one only needs to see how common young people, who are suffering so badly in this recession, were humiliated further by trying to exercise their given right to peacefully protest.
If this is justice, I'd rather break the law.
I'd rather break the law.
I lost my home earlier this year (stupidly bought for $360K, post-foreclosure-listed for $125K) and I've been writing about this stuff for years (see my old diaries for more), and this is the first time I've seen a prominent business columnist so bluntly say what needs to be said about the scumbag crooks on Wall Street and the oligarchy our country has become. One more quote:
After all, this country wasn't founded to serve a bunch of elitists. Government wasn't intended to be bought and paid for by financial interests. Our nation's economy wasn't supposed to be built on fraud and abuse. If that came to pass, you'd expect people to be angry. Youâd expect people to get roughed up. You'd expect a revolution.
And you'd expect the system would fight like hell to keep it down.
Man, that just about brings tears to my eyes. Finally, somebody gets it.
Have to go, I have gainful employment which needs attention. Best.
