Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme or somewhere in between, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. If you're just here to disrupt or troll, expect to get a Do Not Respond (DNR) comment and then be ignored. Insults, lies, and willful ignorance will be dealt with by normal community moderation. Disagreement by itself is not considered trolling.
As always, if you're interested in joining RKBA, message KVoimakas.
School board approves gun sport for Shawnee
The Shawnee school board recently approved the formation of an FFA sporting clays team for the high school.
The sport is a tightly controlled shooting competition that incorporates firing at clay disks with shotguns and live ammunition.
“Students won’t ever use any of their own firearms or ammunition,” FFA advisor Ryan Ellis said. “When we go to the contests they actually use the firearms and ammunition from the contest itself. We do not take our own equipment to the contests.”
Can't use your own stuff? A more fair playing field I guess, but still annoying. -KV

Housesitter kills burglar in St. Louis home
A house sitter shot and killed a suspected burglar who kicked in the door of a home being rehabbed in the 2800 block of Magnolia Avenue early Friday, St. Louis police say.
...
Wendell Byrd, 44, who lives nearby and was walking down Magnolia Avenue on Friday morning, told a reporter he thinks the house sitter was within his rights to protect the property.
Byrd survived a stab wound to his neck last September by a man he said broke into his apartment in the 3400 block of Cherokee Street. Byrd recalled waking up face down on his bed in a pool of blood.
With the knife still lodged in his neck, Byrd said he walked across the street to a short-term loan business to get help. He said he spent more than a week recovering at a hospital.
He was stabbed in the neck and walked across the street? Wow...-KV
