A Gore candidacy is starting to gain some credibility.
On this weekend's Chris Matthews show Howard Fineman had this to say:
Mark my word the movie about Al Gore and his crusade on global warming is gonna turn him not into, only into a cult figure on the campaign trail but a real candidate."
Gore has given over 1,000 presentations with his signature slide show showing the devastating effects of global warming. In addition, Gore's new movie will hit the theaters at the end of May.
There's more...
There is no candidate out there, that has a realistic chance of winning over the hearts and minds of progressives while simultaneously winning over the independent voters who need to come home to the Democratic Party. We can't rally around Hillary Clinton because she is a sell out, John Kerry is boring, Mark Warner is too conservative, Russ Feingold has been divorced twice. Can anyone really picture a President Richardson or Bayh? Al Gore may not officially be a candidate yet, but we should do what we can to try to get him to run. There are a couple of great websites and a whole lot of people working on a draft movement out there. I recommend
The Gore Portal or
AlGore.org.
This is the time to act! If we want a leader that all factions of the Democratic Party can rally around then we better start to begin the effort of asking him to run. Gore is our best chance of winning. The Republicans have already thrown everything they could at him. He proved he could withstand their bashing in 2000 and now that people have had time to digest what was said at the time, we all now realize that it was a bunch of crap and lies spinning out of control and spewed by Karl Rove. I mean come on now, how many times are we going to have to point out that Al Gore never actually said he invented the internet! There is nothing new they can come up with its all been said before and Al Gore still won the popular vote, and in my opinion had the electoral majority stolen from him by the Republican controlled Supreme Court.
Did anybody go outside this winter in the Northeast? Did you notice that is never really ever got that cold? Today it was 55 degrees in New Hampshire. Al Gore has been right all along about Global Warming and the country is finally ready to listen. 25 years ago, Al Gore was talking about energy independence. That is a long track record. If we are going to get ourselves off our "addiction" to foreign oil I think Al Gore is the man with the passion to get it done.
Please join me in calling on Al Gore to run for President in 2008!
