Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me?

This is an honest plea from your entire OccupyWallStreet Team at DailyKos. More below the squiggle.

This last week has been amazing. The Occupy Wall Street team has pulled together a great group under the leadership of Horace Boothroyd III. We manage to publish and republish dozens to hundreds of diaries a day, host a LiveBlog, and organize a ton of information in the Mothership.

But as more and more Occupations go live around the nation, more and more of our team end up out on the streets filming, photographing, singing, sleeping, marching, talking to media, and basically doing the things we really want them to be doing.

That means we need YOU. Many of us have been pulling 8-18 hour days and the pixels are beginning to make our eyes spin. Here is what WE are asking:

Help the OccupyWallStreet Team at DailyKos.

Managing the Queue

Duties:

  • Watch the recent diaries list for any good candidates to republish with Occupy Wall Street.
  • Republish any and all appropriate diaries.
  • Schedule diaries on the queue. When slow, about every 1/2 hour. When busy, every 5 to 15 minutes. Diaries from those on the ground take preference and can be published immediately.
  • Tag diaries with Occupy Wall Street and other appropriate tags.
  • At the end of your shift, send a list of potential new members to the group so that BlogAdmin can send out invites.

Requested Skills:

  • Ability to read.
  • Ability to make a judgement call.

Requirements:

  • Membership in the OccupyWallStreet group and BlogEditor Status. We are willing to promote Kossacks that want to contribute!

Queue Schedule:
Morning = approx. 6am - 12noon Eastern; Afternoon = approx. 12noon to 6pm Eastern; Evening= approx. 6pm-Midnight Eastern; we'll just let the middle of the night diaries be caught by the morning team the next day. An exclamation mark refers to a repeat volunteer in the same time slot.

Managing the Mothership

Duties:

  • Publish the Mothership sometime before 9am Eastern Time
  • Add all OWS diaries published after 12 midnight Eastern Time
  • Commit to adding new material to the blog in a time sensitive manner.
  • Respond to comments in the diary
  • Give credit to your sources in the Mothership
  • The following morning, make sure the Mothership has all diaries entered up to Midnight of that day.
  • Replace any code in the DRAFT MOTHERSHIP that you have improved or send a private message to a Mothership Team Member to do it for you.

Requested Skills:

  • Ability to read.
  • Ability to make a judgement call.
  • Ability to copy and paste from a DRAFT diary into your own diary.
  • Ability to use Basic HTML Code - like how to link a page or how to add a video.

Mothership Schedule:
We are asking for one publisher each day sometime before 9am Eastern but don't expect them to work the diary alone. They will get the mojo from the tip jar, of course. We would like two people to offer back up and between the three, you can figure out a schedule for the day. BlogEditors have access to any diary published directly from our group so that is how we are able to do this. An exclamation mark refers to a repeat volunteer in the same time slot.

?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
