Hello everyone! Here's my opinion of what happened in the Capital City of Sacramento tonight - "OMFG!!!!" On a scale of 1 to 10 of exciting, it's an 11.
After the General Assembly, at 5:30 pm, we re-read our letter to Mayor Kevin Johnson and several other prominent members of the city council, and demand for him/them to stop violating our civil rights and our First Amendment Rights. We had several requests for amendments to the document, so it will be considered, and voted on again until everyone is satisfied that we are inclusive.
And then, (here comes the OMFG part..) - we decided to march to what we in Sacramento call, "Second Saturday", which basically means that every second Saturday in each month is a barricaded off 'block party' with bars on the corners, people dancing in the streets, and lots of what sounded like Caribbean music. We walked from Cesar Chavez Park, down "J" Street to the East, stopped off at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium at J and 16th (the busiest intersection in Sacramento, hands down). We had so many cars honking at us and people cheering us on that we couldn't hear our own chant. More below below the Orange Government Mind Control Experiment...
So, we marched, chanting loudly, things like, "BANKS GOT BAILED OUT", for which the other half the crowd answered with, "WE GOT SOLD OUT". And, "WHAT DO WE WANT?", to which the crowd loudly answered, "JUSTICE!!!", and then, "WHEN DO WE WANT IT?", and the crowd answered in what must be louder than a jumbo jet taking off, "NOW!!!".
Well, eventually, we arrived at "Second Saturday, and indeed there were a thick, huge crowd of young Sacramentens dancing in the barricaded street party. What we immediately noticed was the 1,500 Anti-War Protesters right across the big block party behind another barricade, which had four policemen on horses. We chanted and danced with the street party, and hollered at the anti-war protesters to "JOIN US!!". The said the same, so we took over the street. Cops stayed out of the way, and were totally cool. But the crowd got a little too close to the horses, who became a little skittish, and then almost threw the officer. I grabbed a megaphone and told the crowd to back away from the horses. They complied, and the horses calmed down, as did the cops. Then we started chanting, "POLICE ARE THE 99%", louder and louder, over and over. They looked like they had been put under a spotlight and asked to make a speech, and offered the nobel prize. They were shocked I think to see first hand that the cops are not the enemy.
We extricated ourselves from the other partiers, and made our way back down "I" street to Cesar Chavez Park. About half decided to go on to the Sacramento Main Jail (a high-rise).
I decided my feet needed some tender loving care, so I am back at home. I'll be back out there at 5am. Can't say why (devious marxists, muslims, mormon, Evil Teachers, Dastardly Nurses, and the cops, who apparently aren't worth being paid more to put their ass and their lives on the line to protect us for shit wages, a bunch of those fruity bringers of ARMAGAYDON, and Blue State conspiracies I think, but Herman Cain and Andrew Breitbart said so).
Peace.
