I am hearing the same thing from Republicans, that their parents made it without whining, without protesting, why be jealous of what others have?
They really don't get it.
Many of our parents lived in a different American, America of 30 years ago, 50 years ago was so much different than the America we live in today.
I am sitting here listening to the Sunday Morning shows and I can't bear it because it shows just how out of touch with reality Republicans are.
On Face the Nation, Herman Cain spouts of how his Father would have never envied what others had but he would have made his own success. Go out and make your own success! Go get a job! And "lets give poor people more opportunity to leverage their income"! No really, he said that.
They just have no idea do they? And to hear Paul Ryan on Meet the Press continues with the same talking points, such as 60% of small businesses pay individual income taxes. That we just want to create an atmosphere of opportunity for ALL Americans.
Where is that? Because you had the last 8 years to do that and you pretty much sucked trillions of dollars out of the economy and it was sent to one sector only. Opportunity is lost to a whole generation. How can people reach ahead if they can't afford health care, college, to send their kids to college? If they leave school in debt and they can't find a job that pays enough to pay those loans back and live in a somewhat decent manner.
Herman Cain on Face the Nation, supported his prior comments.
Cain went on to blame the unemployed for their woes, saying, “if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself!”:
CAIN: I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself! [...] It is not someone’s fault if they succeeded, it is someone’s fault if they failed.

Then you come across that image that says it all.
I am tired, I am so tired of all this B.S. about how people just need to get jobs, work harder and it will all just work out.
And all those people protesting, why don't they go out and get a damn job.
If you are listening to this and you agree (and I doubt there are many here who fit this description), then you don't understand what Occupy Wall Street is about and you probably have a job and are very comfortable right now in your life.
I just find I can't stomach the constant barrage of, I don't get these people protesting! I don't understand this!
I get it, we just laid off three people at my work and I have had my hours cut back. I really get it, living in a home that's lost a third of its value since we bought it. Lots of loss around us. How can people say they DON'T UNDERSTAND? It is willful it seems to me. On purpose.
It's called a bubble and so many people are just unaware of how many are hurting and just how many millions of Americans are out of work? Can there be that many people with blinders on? No, just a certain class of people. It is class warfare because no one wants to give up their hard bilked wealth (AND NO, there are MANY Americans who make a lot of money who did earn it).
It's a constant reminder just how much we're up against.
