Dear supporters of the Occupy movement:

We in DC are facing the challenge of supporting two squares worth of folks from the very beginning of an occupation--in other words, we are trying to get twice as many people and logistics off the ground simultaneously.

We are also facing the challenge that some people do not want to support both groups.

So I'm going to post separate appeals on a fairly regular basis until things get sorted out.

This one is for Stop the Machine at Liberty Plaza.  Folks need food, water, and tarps/wet weather gear.  Also basic medical stuff for colds, etc.

HERE is the link for sending pizza directly to Liberty Plaza; you can also donate through paypal at that URL.  Please share this URL with your friends as widely as possible.  People down there are hungry!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

They were thrilled to get it.  I'm not feeling too hot, am hideously congested, but as soon as I'm healthier, I'll take something down.

of why the two camps don't get merged into one camp.

I have visisted tonight for the first time McPhearson Square.
A friendly crowd. They didn't like me to take pictures. I respected their wishes, but was surprised about the level of fear they seemed to have to be recognized on a photo.

It was already night, I wanted to get some photo-shots of the GA. I don't think they would have been recognizable on a photo, but somehow they wanted to be left alone. So, I did.

They were well supplied, but very ad-hoc stylish. They had a guy who washed the dishes from SEIU. It was his first night over there. He didn't mind I take a picture of him washing dishes.

After that I went to Freedom Plaza. On my way from McPhearson camp to Freedom Plaza a passed at 27 homeless people, three people, who needed change. The homeless didn't even think about getting food from McPhearson camp.

Freedom Plaza is larger, better organized and has their tents neatly fixed up. Still lots of signs, clean Porta Potties etc.

I will drop by every evening at the food tent and drop off some goulasch soup I will cook at home. I am not an activist and can't adjust to any of your schedules or activities.

by engaging and checking in on our activists and contributing to their well being.

i like to take photos of signs and crowd shots where people's backs are to me. people are happy to oblige and even proud to show off their signs when i say i'll make sure not to include their faces.

it's a sad testament to a supposed democracy when attendance at a protest could carry with it unforeseen ramifications.
