Hi,
First watch this, posted on the front page in the Occupy Wall Street Roundup: Day 26 diary.
American Dream Dispatch #8- Van Jones speaks at #OCCUPYWALLSTREET
Great message. Great lyrics. Great delivery. Fantastic all around performance by the entire ensemble.
It reminds me of the Greek Chorus, a theatrical tradition that goes back to the first known playwrights. This call and response style has been used in songwriting and storytelling throughout history including Amercian history. The field chants and work songs sung by the laboring classes, slaves, and prisoners are what turned into the Blues which later became Rock and Roll, Rap, and Hip Hop. These art forms are now enjoyed worldwide just as the Human Microphone, an invention of necessity because of the noisy New York streets, is now being heard worldwide.
Now that's protest music to my ears.
Thanks,
Hairy Larry
