Another day, another teary performance by our Secessionist-in-Chief’s shell-shocked wife, Anita. Her latest weepy words allege that she and Rick have been "brutalized" by opponents and the press these past few weeks.
Brutalized? Really? If you want some examples of people who’ve been “brutalized”, consider these folks who’ve suffered at your husband’s hand:
• Inmates who were falsely accused based on shoddy police work, languishing on death row while their families, lawyers, and supporters struggle every day to overturn their convictions
• Rape victims seeking an abortion, already traumatized, then being subjected to his “emergency” transvaginal sonogram procedure to explain to them the significance of their pregnancy
• Immigrant workers, laboring under unsafe conditions for abysmal pay, never speaking up for fear of retaliation, jail or deportation, all to enrich your husband’s rich corporate friends
• Home owners and business owners who lost everything in the wildfires after he cut the state fire-fighting budget in an epic drought.
Too bad you didn’t get out more during all the years you were first lady here in the Lone Star State. Oh, I know you’re getting out of that $10,000-a-month rental mansion these days, meeting with those deep-pocket donors. But that's not what I'm talking about. I mean getting out among the - eccch - people.
All that reclusive living insulated you from some of these pesky little problems affecting your 25 million constituents. Knowing Rick, he probably specified extra heavy light-blocking drapes, soundproofing, and a fence and a moat. That way, you’d never have to see or hear any of the icky stuff that goes on every day.
Or maybe he fortified the place so nobody could see or hear what transpires inside that mansion, or what skeletons lurk in that Texas-sized walk-in closet.
If you got out more, you might have noticed that over 3.8 million acres of Texas have been burned by wildfires just this year. The September Bastrop County complex fire ranks as the most catastrophic wildfire in our state’s history. We’ve lost over 2,800 homes.
So when you make idiotic comments about Rick encountering a "burning bush”, we don’t find that amusing.
Now, you’re telling us that God is now “testing” Rick. You folks worship a pretty capricious deity, Anita. First he says “Rick, you’re my chosen one! You need to run”. Then he propels Rick to front-runner status, only to let him stumble and fumble through the debates and hide behind your skirts as he plummets back to earth. I’d say if anything, God’s just messing with him.
Anita, give it a rest. Don’t blame it on religious persecution. Don’t blame it on your opponents, the media, the voters, or the “process”. Your whiny rants are an embarrassment to your gender and your species and most of all, to Texans. With all they’ve endured, they always pick up the pieces, rebuild, and carry on.
Quit crying and complaining. Get out and meet some of your people. Chances are, you’re not headed for the White House. You may as well get to know your neighbors here in the Lone Star State.
They could teach you a thing or two about taking responsibility.
