So I have noticed a new meme among the coverage of #OccupyWallStreet. The question is about funding. Who is funding #OccupyWallStreets, how, and so on. This is meant to somewhat de-legitimize this truly populist, grassroots movement, and I don't remember the corporate media EVER asking the same question of the teaparty. Hmmm, verrry interesting.
Other than Rachel Maddow, Olbermann and a few others, it could hardly be said that the David Koch, corporate lobbyist funded tea party was EVER questioned about the sources of their funding. That would lead directly to David and Charles Koch, the two super villains behind the smog you are breathing, among other things. I also have taken note that no one in the corporate media ever asked the tea party why they were leaderless, as if that is a bad thing. When the tea party is leaderless it is proof of how organic and grassroots they are. When #OccupyWallStreet has no leaders it is without direction. Notice the framing?
Except the tea party HAD leaders, and if any one in the media had bothered to consistently ask, the public would have known that those leaders were the Koch Brothers, Ex Republican Leader Dick Armey and the Koch subsidiaries Freedom works, along with corporate hack operated CNN and Fox News.
And the tea party HAD funding, and if any one in the media had bothered to consistently ask, the public would have known that the funding the tea party received came largely from a few billionaires who were pushing a pure billionaire friendly, working class hostile agenda.
As for myself, I welcome all of the questions about #OccupyWallStreet and our funding. When working class people fight back against corporate greed and political bribery it requires scrutiny. When billionaires push a re-branded partisan opposition movement to the Democratic Party those concern trolls go silent. Their previous silence speaks volumes.
You want to know the difference between the Tea Paryy and Occupy Wall Street, in my honest opinion? #OWS has a library, the tea party voted to cut spending to libraries. #OWS is about going into the future, whereas the tea party was about going back to the past. #OWS is about fighting AGAINST lobbyists and powerful special interests, whereas the Tea Party was about fighting for them.
It's just that simple.
Just a few thoughts. I'm heading back down to Liberty Square now, for day 27 of the Occupy Wall Street protests. Peace and love to you and yours, catch you soon!
1. Get this message out there. Get the word out about these protests of Wall Street's greed to everyone you know. Raise awareness, even if it is via word of mouth, every little bit helps.
2. Use the twitter hashtags #OccupyWallStreet and follow us on facebook and twitter accounts related to the ongoing protests. Help put this video on your facebook pageand any other social media that you use. Make it viral.
3. Make a donation to WeAreTheOther99%'s media fund. They need funding to stay active, and without huge corporate interests backing us up like the Teabaggers have, the only way this works is with your small donations.
4. Go to OccupyWallSt.org and make a donation to our General Fund to support the ongoing protests.
5. To send care packages to Liberty Square, go to OccupyWallSt.org for more information. WE NEED WATER.
