This bad GOP bumper sticker slogan masquerading as a serious policy proposal deserves a bumper sticker response. Progressives everywhere should chorus nein, nein, nein to Herman Cain's 999 and avoid complicated (although valid) wonkish rebuttals of 999, which lacks any sound underlying economic and human impact analysis.
When will we ever get a real public debate about how to transform America into a democratic country with income distribution policies and laws that provide incentives to work hard, save prudently and which leave no people behind in poverty?
That Herman Cain can be running ahead of Mitt Romney in GOP primary polling probably says more about Romney's charisma free personality than anything but it also shows how pathetic the GOP base is at evaluating policy proposals.
999 would be regessive in the extreme and should be buried quickly by counter slogans.
Then what?
What kind of America do you want?
An America reminiscent of the gilded age, with income disparities and wealth disparities that lead to revolution?
Or an America that is inclusive and that believes no person should be left behind.
An America that is not dominated by selfish greed.
