Progressives are sometimes just too intelligent for the masses. Seriously. We tend to come to conclusions/suggestions based on in-depth analysis. Result = no sound bite = no media coverage. We MUST learn to keep it simple!
Isn't it relatively obvious that Wall Street (and banker) greed is the cornerstone of our economic mess? And isn't it clear that the Senate and Congress is controlled by WS-backed lackeys? If you are at all unclear about his, please read the excellent Vanity Fair article about Liz Warren (URL: http://www.vanityfair.com/...), noting both Dem and GOP politicians on their payroll, including Barack of course.)
So, what do we want, and what will we do? In Tea Party fashion, we must commit to defeating ANY politician who accepts campaign money from Wall Street or from multi-national Banks and Corporations. Period. Regardless of whether they "support" our other ideas. No compromises. Then work our tails off to prove we can back up our threats with defeats at the ballot box. Even when the other party wins.
When every OWS participant declares that this WS/Corporate control of our nation's political system is the clear CAUSE of our national decline in education, healthcare, environment, and poverty safety nets, maybe it will make sense to the average citizen. 40+ million without healthcare. 17+ million children hungry. 47+ million without jobs. Come on man!
Simple, easy to repeat, connects to the average citizen. Just like the Tea Party and Faux News, right?
