Granted, Occupy Wall Street is not the sole cause of this change. For one thing, President Obama has been stumping for his jobs legislation for the past several weeks. Also, the last week of the July was the peak of the debt default showdown, making it perhaps not the best point of comparison.
Still, Occupy Wall Street has made an undeniable impact in shifting the terms of debate on our current economic woes away from a focus on spending cuts, and toward a focus on unemployment and the culpability of Wall Street. That is a big deal.
