Mitt Romney says his top priority is to repeal President Obama's health care reform plan—even though Obama's plan was based on Romney's MassCare plan and was drafted with the help of Romney's own policy advisers.
Back when he signed MassCare into law, Romney said it was a good model for the nation—a "Republican approach" to make sure "everybody" has insurance. But now that it's the 2012 election and he wants the Republican presidential nomination, Romney denies ever having said any such thing. Unfortunately for Mitt, the video doesn't lie:
As you can see, Romney didn't just say his plan was a good approach for the nation, he also said that he was pleased President Obama was "copying" a key part of his plan, the health care exchange marketplaces where individuals required to buy insurance can shop for the private plan that best meets their needs.
So why is it that he now says he never said any of that? Look no further than his explanation of why he didn't want to hire undocumented workers to mow his lawn:
I'm running for office, for Pete’s sake!
Yes, he is. And he'll say anything to win.
