It looks like John Dean was right - the Murdoch scandal will be even bigger than Watergate.
UK Member of Parliament Tom Watson spoke to fellow News Corp. shareholders today, and later sat for a live interview with Keith Olbermann on Countdown (Current). Keith introduced him by saying that Watson has discovered that Murdoch's News Corp. was:
"conspiring to pervert the course of justice."
Realize that Watson has seen more evidence regarding this scandal than possibly anyone else. On Keith's show tonight, Watson said, quite definitively:
"There was a cover up"
I thought Nixon taught the GOPosaurs that the cover up is always worse than the crime. Guess not.
There were other bombshells in the interview, too. MP Watson said there were AT LEAST FOUR (4) private eye/hacker goons involved, not just Mulcaire.
He warned Shareholders that it would soon be proven that there was "bribery of police officials" - That's gonna definitely leave a mark - an obvious violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, IMO. Hope Rupie likes prison!
Watson also told investors that the computer hacking was much more widespread at News Corp. than anyone yet realizes. He told Keith that as this comes out, News Corp. will become vulnerable to massive civil liabilities.
I will post the Countdown clip if and when I find it. We learned during the show that the Murdoch gang all got re-elected to their director's positions, but News Corp. won't release the official tabulations until some time next week! They just need a quick consult with Kathy Nicklaus, perhaps.
From The Guardian's liveblog of the shareholders' meeting:
The Financial Times quotes Tom Watson as saying Rupert Murdoch is approaching his "Rosebud moment" – "in reference to the last word uttered by the title character in Citizen Kane, the Orson Welles film about a press tycoon".
