I just got back from an organizing kickoff event for Elizabeth Warren at Framingham State. It's late and I'm tired.
But....
Over 400 people showed up; mostly Metro West, but a smattering of folks from around the state. (More of these events are planned BTW, see www.elizabethwarren.com.)
You can check my comment history. I was skeptical about Elizabeth Warren for months. Not anymore. Not after tonight.
We have found our candidate to take back Ted Kennedy's seat.

Three things impressed me up front:
1. She shook hands with everyone as they came in the room.
2. Doug Rubin was in the room. He ran Deval Patrick's two winning gubernatorial races, with grassroots campaigns.
3. We were handed a sheet with talking points on one side and voter ID data collection on the other. And a house party packet. I love this stuff; I can do house parties til hell freezes over. This is the grassroots campaigning the last US Senate candidate didn't understand, or use, and lost because of it.
So this is going to be a grassroots campaign, like we've successfully done around here for Deval, and others, over the years. We know how to do this. The Massachusetts Democratic Party has gotten us the tools we need to do this at the local level (access to the voter database online and Act Blue accounts).
Then Elizabeth herself came on - after shaking all those hands - and spoke. Quietly, articulately, and passionately. About her life story. About values. About fighting for families, for investing in our future, about taking on the corporations.
"You can vote for banks, or you can vote for families."
That's the choice in this election.
