Apparently, the biggest crimes and threats to safety facing the police in many cities are
1) Tents
2) Camps
and...
3) Fecal Matter or "Sanitation Concerns"
While the 1% get away with murder, torture, theft, fraud and political corruption the "little people" get zero tolerance, batton rounds, tear gas, maced in the face and billy clubs, for nothing more than exercising their MOST sacred right.
After all, our rights are not absolute as politicians like to remind us. Our rights must be balanced, for the greater good. We are told our rights must be balanced against park sanitation, business inconvenience, cost of policing, traffic, noise, etc.
A couple of weeks ago, BofA CEO Brian Moynihan, said that BofA has a "right to make a profit". All my conservative friends argued vociferously that I couldn't really criticize that right, all I could do was take my business elsewhere. Apparently, BofA's rights don't need to be balanced!
So, in the interest of justice and freedom, can I suggest a simple solution to all these horrific violations of "permits", "sanitation" and "safety":
How about dropping some port-a-potties in the occupied parks, put some police communtty-liaison officers on the corner and let the people be, let them vent, let them camp and let them protest. Would it really lead to the end of civilization?
Do you have to harass, mace, arrest and beat men, women (and children) to avoid a little SHIT?
WHAT DO WE WANT?
PORT-A-POTTIES
WHEN DO WE WANT THEM?
NOW!
