After going by the place every day for years, it finally dawned on me that all the education-busting oligarchs have set up shop literally right next to each other on the MIT campus.
I can't post pictures, so go to the MIT campus map and check out:
Building NE30 - The Broad Institute
Building 16 - The Koch Institute for Cancer Research
Building 32G - The Gates wing of the Stata Center
Building 66 - The Koch Biology Building
They are all literally in a row. Can you think of a better spot to protest the plutocracy?
Of course, the people at MIT are not going to be too much on your side. They are the winners. They are the best and the brightest. They will get the real jobs. Why should they rock the boat? They are on the ladder to the top deck.
They don't realize that any deck below the sky boxes is still steerage. I mean, the Broad building is utterly functional architecture; not fancy at all. And, the drones who labor there are the grad students of all the Broad's guest faculty (read high-ranking profs at MIT, Harvard, Boston University; and doctors from the city's many research hospitals). The grad students and post docs are competing for the few openings available.
You couldn't get me in the door of the Koch buildings.

But, enough of the campus tour. These folks - Gates, Broad, and the Kochs - are the Billionaire Boy's Club that is bankrolling the assault on public education. They like private education just fine, because they will profit handsomely from it. Do you think these grasping assholes are making a contribution to society with these centers? No. These facilities are just bait to draw in the best and the brightest so that the BBB can cream skim them. They will find a way to privatize all the research that comes out of these open institutes.
Meanwhile, they are busy trashing education for the bottom 99%.
So, why doesn't somebody decide to Occupy Oligarchy Alley?
Just askin'.
Suggestions for the name of this place are welcome.
Plutocracy Row.
Billionaire Boy's Town.
