Let me start out by saying that I know that people are angry and they have every right to be. We are truly approaching a tipping point as a nation and as a world.
There is a wrong message being told around the country that has caught my eye in my humbled opinion. Thinking the best way to get someone's attention is to yell at them and insult their intelligence and their ability to see the big picture is defiantly ignorant.
If you want them to share your point of view and join your cause you have to find out what it is that is important to them. Read on...
I am seeing a lot of messages designed to get people involved in Occupy Wall Street. There is one poster being made that says "You are not the rich. You did not get bailed out. You do not own any politicians. There are no tax loopholes created just for you. You may work hard for what you have and you may hate to associate with dirty liberal hippies, but guess what- You are the 99%…"
Totally the wrong message in my opinion! If I might add - you can catch more bees with honey than vinegar. Perhaps it would be better to project a positive message that represents and encourages the 99%.
Dirty Liberal Hippies - Really??? That's a Fox News analogy. Why would we want to sum up the entire Occupy Wall Street population by a term that Fox News is spreading over their airwaves to create a negative connotation and create hate and discontent. These statements are made to keep their audiences in the dark and pit us against one another. Occupy Everywhere is getting the attention of the Fox News audiences because it's growing and spilling over into the main stream.
People that would normally stay away from the topic of politics are starting to ask some questions. That is a great thing. But when they do, it is important that we do not scare them back into political shyness by telling them they are wrong. I do not think that we will get very far by telling them that they are part of the most misinformed audience in the world they have made a bad viewing choice. I would rather have them come to that conclusion all on their own. Remember that if someone takes a stand that they heard on Fox News, chances are and more often than not - they have been led in the wrong direction. Here are some of what people at Fox News are saying about Occupy Wall Street.
Bill O'Reilly - The far left is getting out of hand!
In this video, the violence you see is in Rome, Italy and Athens, Greece. The claim that camera's would be broken if they entered is just a claim not backed up by anything. The man claiming to have been bitten by a dog, once again- no proof... Very misleading Mr. O'Reilly!
Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter - This is a Mob!
What can I say about this video except it is 4 minutes 13 seconds of my life that I will never get back. Ann Coulter needs to sell her books and Sean Hannity needs to say whatever Roger Ailes tells him to.
As a midwestern regional truck driver, I find myself in IL,IN,OH,MI,KY,MO,NE,MN and WI every week. CB radio, restaurants, truck stops, shippers and receivers and scales are where I have the opportunity to talk to people. We are seeing more and more people waking up to the reality of the world and how we welcome them is very important.
Thanks for your time…
