I took the day off yesterday to join OccupyDC at McPherson Square. I participated in a training session on non-violent direct action protest training and although I am unlikely to ever join a direct action, it is good to know more about. Essentially its about transferring power to the protesters by just taking a street (with a march) or posting a banner. It was pretty cool and helps me better understand the ideology and tactics behind direct action. It was an introduction on the thinking on it.

Right about the time that was wrapping up two toolbags (see above) who had the wingnut welfare look set up a jobs table with job applications for walmart and subway. There picture is below so if you do see them, please ask them to get real jobs. They claimed to work for a major recruiter/headhunting company called Robert haft. I have been headhunted or looked to headhunters and they don't have the look of headhunters. I wonder if whoever they claim to represent knows what they are up to?
I also had the chance to meet two #occupy chaplains who are at studying Wesleyan Theological Seminary. Its encouraging to see them supporting our cause.
Shortly thereafter, I got involved with the Media Team and helped them setup a a better tent. After that I spied a familiar Union Kepi across the park. It was Ministry Of Truth!
I went over and introduced myself and realized that there is a reason why he speaks for so many of us. I also met Spillover Effects. We talked and I went for dinner at Bier Barron (formerly Brickskeller). Our waitress, Katie asked Ministry of Truth about his Occupy DC pin and we had a great conversation about the movement to save our Republic.
I could not have had a better Mental Health Day.
I may not be able to be around to hang out in comments for very long. This thing is growing!
