My bat$hit busy work life has zapped my witty diary introduction part of my brain, so let's move directly to "this day in history."
And, we're gonna open up with a very bittersweet item considering today's political climate. On November 4, 2008, Barack Hussein Obama was elected the 44th president of the United States. We've gone from this...
{ugh...hurts just watching...}
...to this and much worse.
Former First Lady Laura Bush, being married to a good little GOBPer, will be giving back her Social Security & Medicare, I'm sure, today even though she's 65 today. Am I right? ;D
Let's Countdown!
David Shuster's back again; huh, well, we know Keith isn't at a baseball game. ;D Hope he's not had a recurrence of what put him on IR the other night!
#5 "Breaking News: 2nd Vet Injured by Oakland Police at Occupy Protest" AKA "Occupy Day 49" - Wow, these vets survive various $hit holes in their military careers only to find the $hit holes followed them home. The vet, Kayvan Sabehgi, has a lacerated spleen & is awaiting surgery. Scott Olsen's at the same hospital. Oakland's police chief was booed at a city council meeting when he said his officers acted with restraint. Adam Gabbatt broke the Kayvan Sabehgi story; he works for The Guardian. Mr. Sabehgi was in pain & on a cell floor for 18 hours before getting to a hospital. Protestors set fires to barricades around a building?! Oh great. Iraq veterans were at the front of many marches the other day as a calming non - intimidating presence. Good damn grief... Dottie Guy works for Iraq Veterans Against War; she spoke with Mr. Sabehgi today, too. The way to win hearts & minds is NOT to be beating up veterans exerting the rights for which they fought!
#4 "Don't Bank on It" AKA "Bank Transfer Day" - Tomorrow has been designated as a big 'ol bank transfer day. There are calls for people to take their money out of those "too big to fail" banks & to a community bank or credit union. I've said before that Hubby & I ceased banking at a bank for a number of years & are quite happy with the credit union of which we are members. So, there's an endorsement from lil' 'ol me! :D AH! THAT'S why a Saturday - that whole November 5 thing! :) Chase Golding is with Occupy L.A.; they're marching to some banks tomorrow in solidarity with Bank Transfer Day. I didn't have to worry about automatic bill pays when we switched over; paranoid luddite me still writes checks & send them through the...uh...what's it called again...OH - THE MAIL! ;) The direct deposit stuff for our paychecks was a snap.
"Time Marches On!" - There's a rodent in a tutu...GROSS!!!!!!!! A Japanese girl is very very good at the jumping rope. :) HIGH - FIVING KITTY!!!!!!!!!
#3 "Oh 'Brother'" AKA "Cain't Do Any Wrong" - I'm so glad to see "Herb"'s not milking all this sexual harassment stuff into campaign coin. Wait...oh...he IS milking all this sexual harassment stuff into campaign coin? {insert best Gilda Radner here} Never mind! Mittens has GOT TO be pi$$ed. ;D A lawyer for 1 of the claimers has taken issue with "Herb"'s portrayal of events. OK, I've got to get "Herb"'s little Kochtopus shtick down in full:
I am the Koch brothers' brother from another mother.
Well duh! "Herb"'s black & the Kochtopus is green! ;D Money might just be able to buy a primary or 2. Mittens is trying to counteract all this mojo by releasing all his draconian spending cuts & showing how socially conservative he is. Steve Kornacki gets "Herb" duty in studio. "Damning revelations" might be down the pike if any of the alleged victims decide to make a statement.
#2 "Backing the Bullies" - An anti - bullying law in MI was written so badly the family of the victim it was named for has distanced itself from it - WOW. The GOBP - led MI state Senate made sure to include language to protect bullies. You can bully someone if you think the Bible tells you so. Huh, I don't recall those lines in "Jesus Loves Me." The House & the Governor aren't even really crazy about it!
#1 "Mission to Moscow" AKA "Imagination Station" - Someone at Countdown "creatively acquired" my Daily Kos diary draft material AGAIN! I bring up this Moscow story in TRMS diary & do it with lovely biting humorous commentary - sort of - about today's celebrity worship culture. So, y'all GOTTA go there tonight to read it for yourself! ;D Derrick Pitts gets to comment about this "Mars" mission. Was 1 of the guys named Marvin? :D The psychological aspects of this experiment might actually be of some worth as a very sneak preview of what an actual Mars mission would entail. Something else is going to hit the planet next Tuesday? Will it hit us before I have to get up & go to work at an ungodly hour the next morning?! It won't??!! $HIT. :D NASA's trying a tractor beam? SWEET!! THAT'S how I can land "my guy!!!!!"
