I saw the video of the judge whipping his handicapped child but could not watch the entire 7 odd min. Follow me below the fleur-de-kos to reveal an interesting observation.
I am the single mother of a 19 year old boy. Our home is kind of a frat house for his friends ( much to my chagrin!). They are all normal young men who play all kinds of sports, chase girls, and play incredibly violent video games. (that to me are just gross but I would rather read a book). Anyhow, some folks say that violent video games have de-sensitized our kids. I beg to differ by what I saw when I asked my son and 4 of his friends to watch the video. I had seen it already and was watching their expressions. Good grief. To begin with, they couldn't believe it was real. They didn't think it was legal to assault a child like that and get away with it. I told them to shh and keep watching. The next emotion they all displayed was anger. The things they said they wanted to do to that man was a scene out of Good Fellas. Again I hushed them and said keep watching. Their faces all just had a sickened look to them at this point, like they all eaten something bad. Now comes the important part, I watched my sons face in particular ( but I was facing them all so I could see their reaction ), in walks the MOTHER. It was simultaneous, ALL 5 of them were literally taken aback in their seats. Horror is the only word I can use to describe it. My son lasted about 5 more seconds and got up, walked into the kitchen and said " I don't like this video any more." and proceeded to use language not suitable for print. All 5 of those boys were competely astounded by that degree of violence perpetrated on a child, to say nothing of their ideas about the parents who inflicted this pain. The difference between their reaction to pretend violence (which often requires them to encourage and yell at each other), to real violence, which was so pure and honest in their facial expressions, it was priceless to me. Good kids. BTW GO OWS.. this is a house full of supporters.
