Thanks for enjoying my late night post tonight. Operation Ivy is one of those bands that change your life when you first hear their music. They are one of my favorite bands of all time.

Operation Ivy was an American ska punk band that formed in Berkeley, California, and was often credited with spurring the 1990s punk revival in California. It is well-known as one of the first bands to "mix" hardcore punk with elements of ska, known as ska-core. The band consisted of Jesse Michaels (lead vocals), Tim Armstrong (credited as "Lint") (guitar, vocals), Matt Freeman (credited as "Matt McCall") (bass, vocals), and Dave Mello (drums). Although Operation Ivy had little mainstream success during its career, the band had a large underground following and influenced bands such as Sublime and Green Day. Its only studio album, Energy, has been cited as one of the greatest punk rock albums of all time. The band's name, previously used by the punk band, Isocracy, was derived from the Operation Ivy series of nuclear tests.
You should recognize Tim Armstrong's name from Rancid, who I like a lot, but I agree with Fat Mike that it was dumb for Operation Ivy to break up. They are who everyone wants to see and it's a shame they will not get together or even have a reunion. they would have been even bigger had they stuck it out.
(look for the Op Ivy sticker)
I love the lyrics in Operation Ivy' songs and the lead singer Jesse Michaels(Who can sing and as much as I like his voice anyway, Tim Armstrong still can't really sing as well). It's not surprising the lyrics are so good given that Jesse is the son of the deceased author Leonard Michaels. This is one of my favorite songs and quite prescient right now as we gather while occupying: The Crowd. (Whoah just another crowd! We need to gather instead!)
More lyrics in this song relevant to Occupy Wall Street:
Officer! You act like an animal you're out of control! Officer! What the hell is wrong with you?!
A message to those wanting to co opt the movement. Quit Yelling in my Ear:

Now you know. Sorry for this late late version but it is technically still Wednesday. I hope someone gets something out of this.
