I recently read an Associated Press article where President Obama weighed in on the Penn State child sexual abuse. Here's what he had to say:
At a news conference Sunday after the APEC summit in Hawaii, Obama said college athletic programs are fun and can be important. But he said the excitement they generate shouldn't get in the way of protecting vulnerable youngsters. And he says the lesson is that when people see something wrong, they have to "step up."

What really struck me about President Obama's statement is how ABSOLUTELY HYPOCRITICAL he was being. Just earlier this year, the Obama Administration sided with the Vatican by directing the Office of The Solicitor General to apply the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of 1976 to protect the Vatican from prosecution for child sexual abuse and the subsequent cover ups facilitated by Pope Benedict himself.
How can President Obama, who has two kids, take this position? Even more troubling is why aren't more people outraged about this decision and/or with the Catholic Church committing child sexual abuse WORLDWIDE? I thought that as a society, MOST of us shared the same "line in the sand" where the safety of children is concerned. "Hurt kids and you are going down" is what I believed was our society's attitude but that no longer seems to be the case.
Is this how far we have fallen as people? I hope not.
