Well, for the second time this year, I am out of a job. My whole company got the news today. The owner of the company has decided to retire. After trying to find a buyer for months, he has just decided to close it up and sell everything off. This leaves me, and quite a few others out of a job in a couple of weeks.
I haven't been in this job very long, so I am very afraid that I won't qualify for unemployment. Does anybody know the rules for that? I've been working for maybe three to four months in this job. I'll get no severance pay at all.
My concern is that if I do not qualify for unemployment, I will lose everything. I was without a job for months before and we were completely out of our emergency savings. We've tried building up our savings again since I've been working but a costly car repair wiped that out.
I can't believe this has happened to me again. I'm bummed and feel pretty hopeless. I haven't told my wife yet. I don't know how to tell her again. Just when we thought things were getting back to normal - or as close to normal as they could be - this happens.
