I work in the nuclear power field. Cornerstones of both worker and public safety are that a utility requires that all workers be fit for duty. Many diverse regulations, all of which have a singular focus on one's ability to work safely. Have you had enough sleep? Have you consumed any alcohol in the 5 hours prior to your shift starting? Are you taking any prescription or over the counter meds that would impair / affect you judgment?
No laughing matter here if you working in the bowels of a nuclear reactor when it is being re-fueled. Now consider if you were the leader of the free world... or the ominous "Phone call at 2am"...
Would you want Herman Cain to stumble through it???
The plan utilities use is called "Fitness for Duty". It is self administered in that you are responsible to report yourself if you feel you are unfit for duty. Additionally, If a co-worker exhibits signs of being unfit for duty you would notify a supervisor (all are given extra FFD training) and they would interview the employee.
Ironic "interview" is the word I correctly chose as Mr. Cain's interview showed us that he is unwilling to accept the limitations age and lack of sleep bestowed upon him and gave a series of nonsensical answers. It also shows the poor choice Herm has made in those he surrounds himself with. That interview should have never happened.
If working in a nuclear power generating station, Mr Cain would have been walked to the gate and been driven home.... Hopefully before he caused damage to the plant or workers. If he was our president, the consequences of his deliberate action could have been catastrophic on a global basis.
In the state he was in Godfather's latest special might be 1/2 price pizza to nudist senior centers... Horrifying, but not (hopefully) deadly...
Not counting the sexual harassment claims, this incident should clearly show Cain as unfit to lead, anyone!
