It is no kind of surprise that the SEIU would once again
endorse Barack Obama. The 2.1 million member union endorsed him during the 2008 primaries, and obviously the 2012 Republican field offers absolutely no options for any organization looking to endorse a candidate that will do anything halfway decent for workers.
SEIU President Mary Kay Henry told reporters that Obama "made working families a priority while other leaders sided with corporations and millionaires."
Yvonne, a retired SEIU member from Florida, said "I am going to support President Obama 100 percent. I will be there, and I will be walking the street," because "President Obama cannot be bought. He's for the working people."
If there's any surprise in today's endorsement, it's timing—this is on the early side. The National Education Association endorsed several months ago, but for instance the AFL-CIO has continued to take a more critical stance at times.
