So good to see the President speaking out about a government's brutality:
“The Arab League has demonstrated leadership in its effort to end the crisis and hold the Syrian government accountable. These significant steps expose the increasing diplomatic isolation of a regime that has systematically violated human rights and repressed peaceful protests,” Obama said.
The Arab League suspension is scheduled to start Wednesday. There may also be economic sanctions.
Obama added that the U.S. supports the Syrians who “demand their universal rights in the face of the regime’s callous violence,”according to the White House statement.
“We will continue to work with our friends and allies to pressure the Assad regime and support the Syrian people as they pursue the dignity and transition to democracy that they deserve,” Obama said.
Thanks, Mr. President, agree wholeheartedly.
Meanwhile, back in the US we are seeing some bad shit as well:
I am proud of the President for speaking up that way.
In no way can we make a direct comparison to the level of brutality we have been experiencing here to what has happened to the Syrians, who have seen thousands killed.
I wonder:
Who in our Party will take the lead to speak out about the widespread brutality toward dissenters here at Occupy Protests across the USA?
If not the President, which Democratic Party leader will at the very least call for a Justice Department investigation of police use of violence?
Would also like to see more calls for action like the faculty and students at Berkeley:

As of 3 pm on Monday, more than 1700 faculty and students had signed a petition calling for an independent investigation into police practices
Would love for you to share instances where you have seen our Dem leaders questioning this epidemic use of police force on nonviolent protesters.
