We are the Many

Here are the lyrics/chords:
We Are the Many by Makana

Key: E    capo: 9    chording: G

Intro: G, Gsus4, G, Em7 x 2

 1. We come here, gather ‘round the stage / The time has come for us to voice our rage

Against the ones who trapped us in a cage / To steal from us the value of our wage

    2. From underneath the vestiture of law / The lobbyists at Washington do gnaw

At liberty; the bureaucrats guffaw / And until they are purged we won’t withdraw

Refrain                                                                                                                We’ll occupy the streets, we’ll occupy the courts /
We’ll occupy the offices of you

‘Til you do  /  The bidding of the many, not the few

3. Our nation was built upon the right  /  Of every person to improve their plight

The laws of this republic they rewrite /  And now the few own everything in sight

4. They own it free of liability / They own, but they are not like you and me

Their influence dictates legality  /  And until they are stopped we are not free

Refrain

5. You enforce your monopolies with guns / While sacrificing our daughters and sons

Well, certain things belong to everyone / You’re thievery has left the people none

6. So take heed of our notice to redress / We have little to lose we must confess

Your empty words leave us unimpressed / A growing number join us in protest

Refrain

7. You can’t divide us into sides / And, from our gaze you cannot hide

Denial serves to amplify / And our allegiance you can’t buy

8. Our government is not for sale / The banks do not deserve a bail

We won’t reward those who fail / we’ll not move ‘til we prevail

Refrain

Repeat Refrain

We are the many, you are the few.

We are the Many lyrics/chords

Share it, sing it, learn it, pass it on!

I also am a writer, and have posted two protest/peace videos to YouTube (my original songs) with images from various peace groups and activists, along with some of my own. Feel free to forward and use for activism. If you need guitar chords
to the songs (or lyric sheets) email me at soaglow@yahoo.com

WHERE IN THE WORLD is a universal Peace anthem, and has the lyrics captioned in the video. Very easy to sing/learn/play.

WHERE in the WORLD

WHEREVER U GO (key of G)  ...is a song about the human cost of war/bring the troops home, with many images from Veterans for Peace.

Wherever you Go

both of these songs are from my contemporary adaptation of Aristophanes anti-war [lay, Lysistrata:  LIZ'S STRATAGEM.  I will be uploading more songs from the play, perhaps do a blog of the entire work...

in the meantime...let us go forth, and SINGING and OCCUPYING together!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
