YES! this is great news. Breaking, from the associated Press:
The Arizona Supreme Court has overturned Gov. Jan Brewer's politically charged removal of the chair of the state redistricting commission and ordering the official's reinstatement.
The court's order issued late Thursday says Brewer's removal letter failed to demonstrate that Colleen Mathis engaged in conduct that gave Brewer constitutional grounds for removal.
Mathis and the Independent Redistricting Commission had challenged her removal, which interrupted the commission's once-a-decade drawing of new congressional and redistricting maps.
The challenge argued that Brewer acted outside her constitutional authority for partisan motivations and failed to provide required due process for Mathis.
Brewer says the commission under Mathis had violated the open meeting law and constitutional mapping criteria and processes.

yesterday ,Brewer's attorney WITHDREW the their main allegation, that Redistricting chairwoman Mathis has discussed a vote in private with the 2 dems on the committee, to manitpulate a vote. this was their big complaint..the main excuse Brewer gave for firing Mathis, and the day before the hearing they withdrew it? i don't know what they thought they had to stand on.
as an aside, during the AZ supreme ct hearing today, Brewer's attorney was asked if 'the wrong hairstyle' would be just cause for Brewer firing Mathis. Brewer's attorney said 'yes'..Not only arrogance beyond belief but the biggest stretch of the definition of 'gross misconduct ' imaginable.
