This will be a short diary.
We need a national conversation on policy brutality. Period. End of story
Sub topics should include:
1. The criminalization of political dissent
2. The recent de-facto roll-back of the right of the press (and protesters) to report, record and observe police arrests and actions
3. The increased militarization of police, both in equipment and tactics
4. The disproportionate power of police unions (progressives may need to get out of denial on this one) and their tendency to be captured by elite financial interests. See JP Morgan Chase's massive donation to the NYPD foundation recently.
5. The level of complicity of public officials in the above
That's it
This needs to start NOW
