Thought I'd give us all a little break from politics on this Thanksgiving holiday and talk about Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
(Reuters) - Legendary musician Jimi Hendrix was named the greatest guitar player in history on Wednesday by Rolling Stone magazine in a list compiled by a panel of music experts and top guitar players.
"Jimi Hendrix exploded our idea of what rock music could be: He manipulated the guitar, the whammy bar, the studio and the stage," said Grammy-winning guitarist Tom Morello in the magazine, citing Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" as key tracks.

Since I Iove kick ass guitarists, I was looking for one of my favorites, Gary Richrath of REO Speedwagon, and failed to find him on the list. It was hard to check all hundred to make sure since the sight jumps to a new page on every artist. I guess I will have to buy the Rolling Stone Friday to make sure. I hope it wasn't an oversight.
Carlos Santana was number 14 and Joni Mitchell number 70. Really? Joni better than Gary? I don't think so.
I want to acknowledge Gary's guitar playing this youtube video of one of my favorite songs Golden Country at a Iraq War Protest concert REO did. Tell me what you think.
