As we all know, Black Friday has become a sickening festival of consumerism with a deluge of ads beckoning people to the malls or big box stores. The American people are invited to compete with each other, sort of like a sporting event, to grab all the best deals for stuff that is mostly imported from Asia these days.
Well, the Kos Katalogue will offer a different shopping experience -- one where you won't shop until you drop because you'll already be sitting down! The Katalogue features the small businesses of Kossacks, people providing services or making things with their own hands in the U.S.A. We are all members of the 99%.
For tomorrow, with Kos' permission, I want to invite everyone who is in the Katalogue (or who wants to be added to it) to write a short diary describing their business, something to give greater detail about it that I can link to in your Katalogue listing. In your diary, tell us not just what you are doing, but where you would like your business to go. If you are comfortable with it, tell us your dreams! Give your vision some wings. And so we'll know you are part of the Black Friday effort, in the title of your diary, name your business and then say, "Kos Katalogue Member" -- and please don't forget to put "Kos Katalogue" in your tags!
This will be a celebration of the dreams and aspirations of the 99%, as represented by us. Americans haven't had any real support for job creation from the powers-that-be of yet, so why not model some job creation in our own way?
And for the people shopping with the Kos Katalogue, thank you! There is a lot of press right now about moving money from big banks to small banks or credit unions. Hey, if money is to be deemed speech, moving it is definitely a political statement. And so is being mindful about how you shop. And when you support a small business person with your business, you are making a statement, too.
Thank you so much! The most recent version of the Kos Katalogue is right here -- but look for a new one tomorrow!
