I forced my family to drive many, many hours to San Diego this year for Thanksgiving with my husband's family because we hadn't been home for a holiday in 3 years and I felt it was our turn to travel.
It was a very worthwhile trip for my children and it was an excellent learning experience for our family.
Here is what we learned, in the order we learned it:
1. Newt Gingrich has always been in the game, never lower than 20% in the polls.
2. Romney is probably going to be it and he did not run an ad that lied about something Obama said and if he did he had to because Obama has over $1 billion to spend on his own ads that lie.
3. Illegal immigrants in California have all of their college tuition paid. You can't even ask them where they are from. Everyone else has to pay, but illegals get their tution paid.
4. These hillarious people in Chicago dumped tons of Walmart applications on Occupy Chicago protesters. LOL. None of those people have jobs and in San Diego they just refuse to let them protest. Yay San Diego.
5. Ford ran an ad on YouTube saying that their cars were more American because they didn't take any bailout money but they took the ads down because Obama told them to. It cost the people on YouTube tons of money because "The White House called immediately and told them to take it down."
6. Jerry Brown has a new bill on the ballot. Don't really know what it is, something about teachers and education, and contracts because the legislature won't pass it. If it passes it will be bad.
7. There is a secret place to get good lightbulbs. Obama got rid of the good lightbulbs and now we can only buy bad lightbulbs. Because of Obama all of the factories that make the good lightbulbs shut down.
8. PBS should not receive public funding because of the political ads they do. The person in San Diego was surprised at how much my mother-in-law new about politics when she was on a tour of their studio.
9. There was a guy on YouTube who did this funny thing about how if you took all of the money from every rich person and rich company and everywhere you still wouldn't have enough money to run the government. We don't know who that person was but his math was dead-on.
10. 49% of people pay no income tax. They don't pay payroll tax either because they work for cash only. There is a huge shadow economy that is cash only.
11. Because of Penn State, California is changing its laws and now any homosexual behavior that is seen must be reported. Because it is illegal. (further questioning from a teenager who could no longer bite his tongue revealed that homosexual=child molestation)
The best part of this trip was the lecture I received from my 15-year-old on the way down about tolerance and being the crazy liberal to their crazy winger; and the subsequent apology from the same 15-year-old that he had no idea they were that bad and that Obama did not get rid of their lightbulbs, and illegals don't get their tuition for free if you can't ask them if they were illegal because why doesn't everyone get free tuition and LOL.
Can't wait to go back in 3 more years.
