Victorious Secret is a PvE guild on the Republic side of Bioware's new MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Since the game hasn't launched yet, we don't have a server, and we are just starting out. VS is taking part in the pre-launch guild deployment program, so I may have a server assigned to me by Bioware in the coming weeks before official launch. Stay tuned!
VS was originally a World of Warcraft Alliance guild, first on the pvp server Cho'gall, and later on Haomarush after Blizzard offered free transfers. I played WoW since launch day until this year, when I finally burned out, and so had most of my guildies. After a long break from MMOs to just play various other games out there, I was accepted into TOR's beta test, and found my new home. My dearest WoW friends and fellow VSers have also decided to play TOR, so Victorious Secret will ride again, this time in space! For the Republic!
Former VSers from WoW number in the single digits. We never had a huge guild to begin with, because VS has always been a guild for casual raiders and gamers. We are all adults, leading busy lives with significant others, jobs, children, family, etc. Our stance has always been that IRL is more important than a game; gaming is what we do to relax. Therefore, VS brooks no drama queens, no 5-day hectic raiding schedules, and no sanctioning for missing raids. We understand that IRL must come first and that everyone has shit to do. Our goal is not to win the race to server first boss kills, but rather to set a relaxed and fun pace that will still get us to end game to see content. And trust me, we have a blast, even if it's just chatting it up on Ventrilo (voice chat) while running circles in Dalaran (or Coruscant would be more appropriate now, I suppose!).
Laughter, having fun, and getting to end game content is what we do.
When PvE bores us, we PvP. TOR in particular has some really fun PvP battlegrounds (Huttball, anyone?!).
There are 5 other VSers coming from WoW, along with at least 3 of my personal IRL friends, so our roster is pretty small right now (although 8 is the bare minimum you need for raiding in TOR!). It recently occurred to me that it would be nice to fill my roster with the sort of wonderful, kind people at Daily Kos. Not because VS is a political guild--although we've had our fair share of respectful debates on Ventrilo, to be sure!--but because I know plenty of gamer Kossacks who would likely benefit from the relaxed adult-oriented guild that we are. So I would like to extend an invitation to Daily Kos members to join Victorious Secret and make VS the Dkos Republic guild!
To join VS for the pre-launch deployment, you can go here, assuming Bioware's site decides to be up today. December 2 (today) is the last day to do this before the pre-launch program ends so that Bioware can start assigning servers to pre-launch guilds. The way the program works is that Bioware will assign a server and as soon as I, the GM, can get in the game during early access, the guild will be created around my first character. Anyone who signed up on the TOR website for VS will find that their first created character will be asked, as soon as it enters the game, if it wants to join VS.
If you miss the pre-launch window, not to worry. I will post a diary as soon as I know what server we have been assigned to, so that Kossacks can find me in game and get an invite.
I also have a budding website at Guildlaunch where you can also go to sign up. I am filling in the content as fast as I can, but please forgive the dust, it is a work in progress. If you miss the pre-launch window on the official Bioware site, please apply at the above link.
About time zones: Members of VS come from all over the country. While I am on the East Coast, several of my WoW members are in the Central time zone, and I have one or two West Coast folks. As of March I will become a West Coaster myself. Therefore, we tend to schedule raids on Central, because that seems to work for just about everyone.
Trolls and douchebags need not apply. If you do, trust me, I weed them out pretty quickly. I brook no idiocy, trolling, bigotry, misogyny, or asshattery in my guild chat or voice chat.
Finally, there is already an Empire Dkos guild, called The Lying Darkness, started by Stance Like Ptah. Check out LYDARKOS's premiere diary for more info. We are still working out the kinks, but I am hoping to link up LYDARKOS and VS as sister guilds on opposing sides of the Force, providing a one-stop shop for Kossacks of both the Light and Dark sides.
