It's often hard to figure out the cultural underbelly of the Tea Party, militia, or secessionist movements. Certain beliefs seem to be shared by the whole group, but the group knows not to talk about it out loud, like any highly dysfunctional family.
But every once in a while they really air it out, like these comments at Beck's web site TheBlaze. The article set out to debunk a rumor that George Soros is buying up the American arms industry.
(I swear I'm going to make a "face palm" poster specific for mentioning George Soros.)
Anyhow, this brought out the hard core gun nuts. Now don't get me wrong, I loves me some guns, in fact I probably like firearms at least as much as Herman Cain likes the ladies. But these guys are gun nuts in the sense that they buy guns because they give serious thought to gunning down their neighbors whose politics they don't like.
I'll point out the what seem to be the common themes of their comments:
1) Taking political power by assassination
2) A conservative military uprising to overthrow Democrats
3) Civil war
4) Genocidal vigilanteism and death squads directed at liberals
5) Mass violence to save "Christians" from the terrible persecution they suffer in the United States.
6) Texas secessionists
So let's move right along and take a look at some distilled evil, shall we? Here's the usual self described "Christian" who immediately starts rationalizing about how her side is, by definition, good, and other people deserve to die. While it's one of the mildest comments, she does at least make the effort of giving us some nice pot-kettle-black kill-them-before-they-kill-you paranoid projection, and for that we thank you. But I guess she skipped those parts of the Bible telling Christians to not rebel.
Christianity is about loving, caring, sharing and kindness…but most importantly it is about Jesus dying, rising and forgiveness of our sins....Believe me, the last thing I want is a revolution, However… Christians ain’t the ones with the violent speech and actions. We are for peace and freedom. But if someone is here to steal our freedom, family and life you bet we have the right to defend it and to say “not” is NOT an option.
Here's another "Christian" who spends his time fantasizing about being an assassin. He also provides a nice contrast to the previous comment.
....Christians protect their own. That means whether it is you or the government attempting to tyrannize and destroy me and my family and friends. It only takes one bullet to stop a tyrant, look at Lincoln. A Christian can ask for forgiveness afterwards.
Our modern fascist make a big effort to recruit veterans. These "three percenters" spend a lot of their time fantasizing about wiping out their unpatriotic neighbors, as well as lot of self described "Oath keepers" who basically claim that their oath of service entitles them to act as armed political vigilantes on American soil.
I agree with you, some. BUT, the Founders were British Citizens and decided THEIR personal rights and freedoms required them to kill fellow British citizens........ It does not say from whom it is we are protecting ourselves, but given their recent experiences, it stands to reason, they were including even their own body and any future U.S. governments.......I think the right to overthrow or protect ourselves, is backed up by the oath that all U.S. military personnel take (to).. defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC.... I pray and hope it NEVER comes to .... hunting that Domestic destroyer of our freedom, and shooting them TO protect my family.
Really?
Hunting the "domestic enemies?" It sure sounds like this guy has fantasies about his own right wing death squad.
Here's a proud Texan fantasizing about revolution and mayhem to protect his "property." Seriously, this guy should check out Buddhism.
If a revolution were to occur ......it would start in places like Texas, Wyoming, Utah and just about anywhere people had a self reliant independent attitude, DC is a place for parasites and nanny-state teat suckling spineless union goons. In the event of open revolt it would be a clash of ideas and ideals. One one side those who would take by force the product of another mans labor and on the other side those who would defend life and property with whatever force needed.
I particularly like the part about a "clash of ideas," which would be a fair description of democracy except this guy sees philosophical disagreement as grounds for homicide. Also when he says "take by force," this probably means
taxes.
This guy says they are considering a "Just War." I'll quote him at length since he is mostly quoting Wikipedia. The "Just War" concept is that Christians can go to war with a clear conscience if certain conditions are met, and this guy says that the moral standard for Just War has been met by the Obama administration's horrible oppression of Americans. It occurs to me that Jesus did not urge a Just war against the Romans even though they were pretty darned oppressive. Anyway, my own comments are in italics.
The Just War concept kicks in at some point. The cut & past definition is:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain; (Obama: Fundamental Transformation) (They never really say what this means, even though it's supposedly worth killing people over)
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective; (2012 election results possibly) (Mr. Sore Loser "second amendment solutions" wants to kill people if he loses the election)
3. There must be serious prospects of success; (US Constitution & Bill of Rights supporters + GI’s? willing to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.) (See there's the vigilante veterans thing again)
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. (Promote the Common Good: Return to the Constitution of the US) (Again, not clear what this means but for this guy it definitely justifies killing people)
All of this fits into the value system of most of the people on this site.(Yikes, thanks for making that point for me)
This guy is planning a war where he will hunt down and kill anyone he disagrees with. Actually he pretty much taking this straight from Mein Kampf.
Not revolution, Civil War is what will happen. The flaw in Glenn’s thinking is that you cannot unilaterally declare peace and hope to survive. The enemies of the United States intend to bring it down, and enslave us all, that’s the whole purpose of all the Marxist crap you see happening in the country today. John has it partially right firearms are for hunting and protecting your family, by hunting commies I AM protecting my family. It will soon be open season on these vermin and thousands will die. Not my fault, they are ones who have fomented this crisis. I stand ready to deploy, engage and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. Clean up America, kill a liberal.
Nothing says "defending liberty" like going house to house looking for people to kill. Notice he's very clear about saying that his killing spree would be "not his fault."
This person really wants an outright massacre of OWS
First off, not all conservatives are religious preach the bible all you want, goes in one ear out the other for me. Secondly, my PCC gives me the right to PROTECT MY FAMILY AND OTHERS as well. Thirdly, it is the LIBERALS who are shouting “Revolution and fight on the streets” We are just DEFENDING OURSELVES! Conservatives are not calling to take the fight to the streets, we are not occupying with tents out in the streets breaking laws, raping women, doing drugs, etc….
This guy is typical Tea Partier, but at least he realizes he isn't about to engage in guerrilla warfare from his Hoverround, and he questions the idea that the army is poised to kill liberals. But he assumes at least part of the army is ready to go on a killing spree directed at liberals, and he hopes that he will get to help the army slaughter Americans.
I agree with you that there is a chance for a civil war. My issue is organizational and logistical. If the US military join the side of protecting the Constitution then we will have access to the logistical train. If they don’t, we are toast. Sure we can do an Alamo and we probably will. I am 63 years old. My most recent combat experience was 43 years ago. I can probably do well in a static defense.
Here's another Texan fantasizing about being a sniper. Maybe he can get a job at the book repository.
I wont be seen in the day of need for our country but you might here an occassional thap…Now if you get in my face and try to harm me or my family you will hear a very big bang I think. My family has helpled take care of this land since 1609 and I wont be the weak link. I might add a “Son of the Republic of Texas” 1836ca
And elections naturally make these guys expect violence. Clearly someone is priming them for election violence, and this idea of terrorism during elections seems to be a core belief for wingnuts. And Al Qeada.
I been saying it for three years now…KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY! Many conspiracy theories abound about the upcoming election. One never knows when one may need to defend their property, family, country, constitution or self.
This guy is armed and waiting for the UN to show up.
Liberals are not dumb (or should I say “brave”) enough to go onto someone else’s property for either redistribution or confiscation of anything; they would rather have someone else like B.A.T.F.E., feds, foreign troops, mercenaries, etc, to go in so the “enlightened cowards” won’t have to risk their own skin.
Here's another "oath keeper" vigilante who wants to kill "liberals" and expect at least part of the military to revolt against Obama (or probably any generic Democrat). But at least he has some self awareness about how silly he sounds. He also figure that there will be a violent power struggle in the armed forces. You know, like in the white supremacist book "The Turner Diaries."
Each of us is raving about the individual long guns, shotguns and handguns we have, the amount of ammo and our willingness to actively defend the Constitution in the event of a civil war...An objective view shows we are each a lone wolf. ... We are not prepared to go to war....I wonder if anyone has given serious thought to what a civil war will be like. There will be elements of law enforcement, National Guard, Army, Air Force, Navy and USMC that will obey the orders of the Commander-in-Chief. Others will opt to protect the Constitution. We know what that part of the enemy will look like. But what about the rest. It will be like Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan. You won’t be able to tell the good guys (conservatives) from the bad guys (liberals)....Give some thought to how the military will precieve us. A bunch of mostly middle aged men and women dressed in hunting camo and riding in the back of pickups. We will be a mob. We will end up guarding empty buildings and be called the Home Guard.....I am a third generation oath taker. My sons are the fourth. We will do our duty.
Really, this guy is talking about a fascist military coupe.
Notice there does seem to be a difference between the "Three Percenters," (or "oath takers") like the elderly Georgia militia members arrested last month, and the "Oath Keepers" organization. The Oath Keepers supposedly swear to never take citizens guns or fire on America, but the "Three Percenters" are obsessed with the idea of killing their fellow Americans because of the supposed conspiracy to take their guns. The Oath Keepers were founded a former Ron Paul campaign official, if that helps keep things straight.
There you have it - some really sick, depraved people. These aren't the "good Germans" who passively went along with Hitler - these are the people that stood in line to join the party, these are the people who rushed to embrace the new power they had over their neighbors.
Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to imagine what other forms this evil takes in the confines of their own homes. And what's really scary is that they think they should be controlling your life.
