As my three readers know, I've been squatting in my own boat for over a year now and facing my second winter here.
Today I was given official notification that I am going to be charged the live aboard fee monthly. I'm legal. No more holing up wondering if I will be tossed out one night. I have no idea how the hell I'm going to pay it yet - I did have a smashing interview yesterday that I should get a call on next week - but I am finally a LEGAL marina resident, not a sneakaboard.
I already feel a difference about myself. I have more pride walking down the dock to my ugly little home. It's MY HOME. Officially. No takebacks. She said she would make me a new moorage sticker today. (They use colour coded stickers on the mooring board so they know at a glance who is supposed to be here all the time and who is not.)
So while nothing else I intended to happen has happened other than getting married this year - I have two things I can check off now as done.
BARUCH HASHEM!!!

EDIT - This is not a request for funds. I had a smashing interview at a Jewish/Polynesian restaurant yesterday and will likely be offered a position next week. My wife has been able to pick up hours as well with the holiday season. We'll manage to pay the $35 fee with pride. Thank you all who have sent messages offering help.
