This was primarily a festive return and redecoration of the People's Plaza ( aka Hennepin County Government Center) after the sneaky eviction of Tuesday, 12/6. Here is one of our snowman signs, this one is Churchill-esque.
Occupiers were busy on Tuesday, some in DC, some at an all day workshop with Starhawk, some launching the foreclosure action at Bobby Hull's, as seen on the Ed Show, ( we start at 1:24)
However, all this off the plaza activity allowed the county to move in and clear off the remaining people and many of our supplies, most importantly all the sleeping bags.
More pics of our return below the squiggle
Occupiers and supporters of all ages turned up to hang new winterized signs and share cookies and hot beverages.
a little short of line here :-) but I thought using clothesline and clothespins was genius, much sturdier than tape.
some of my favorite signs
a group shot after getting most of these up, I think my fingers and toes were starting to get cold!
Then we welcomed back our Occupiers who had been to DC and got a brief report from Liz about the national GA, taking K Street, the encampments, and she will be doing teach-ins later to share more in depth stuff. Next a few announcements about events like the County Commissioners meeting this Tuesday where we want a strong presence, upcoming marches and actions, and our "reconstitution" meetings next weekend, 12/17 & 18
One last sign, this one by Liz, wonderful how she shows us peace and love in revolution ;-)
